Brown Transferware nice for Thanksgiving

I have a large collection of brown transferware.Like many of You, My collection started in the mid- seventies when Johnson Brothers Friendly Village was so popular.
Later, I received My paternal Grandmothers Johnson Brothers British Castles set,a gigantic set. It grew from there.Any of the Brown Transferware looks best near Thanksgiving.I still love it and appreciate it. I have stopped using it though since My daughters took over the holidays. What I would LOVE is just one Lavender Transware plate though, those on the other hand are very difficult to find.I should really any time now start dividing it all up by 4s ( daughters). I keep putting it off because I'm almost positive it will end up in their garages, maybe for Years.

This time of Year I always start thinking about giving My collection to My daughters. What if they fight over who gets what or just sale it or throw it away.I know to many of You this must sound petty or immature but that's why I do avoid it. On a cheerier note......
I was 26 when I first saw a face that looks exactly like this one. That was 36 years ago. It's hard to believe for Me that I got to see this face once more. It's like being young all over again, looking into the baby face of this little sweetheart's Mommy, My daughter Annette. One blessing out of thousands
to be Thankful for.Happy Fall play time-Denise

Oh what a little darling your Annette is. Love those pics. Your dishes are gorgeous and I love transferware of any kind but this just steals my heart. I hope you find your lavender plate. I will be watching for that one now since it is so rare.
Thanks for stopping by today. Your visits always bless my heart!

Well Denise from someone who likes to collect and has collected things for years that i cherish you do not sound petty or immature.

You just pass them on when your ready to pass them on. Why shouldn't you keep them and enjoy them for as long as you like. I'm sure there are probably a million reasons why you should pass them on now. But you only need one reason to keep them....they still bring you joy.

I've had to come to the hard realization that many things i have collected over the years my daughter will not want. My vast collection of hardcover books, journals i have kept for more than 25 years, all ALL my crafty stuff..... Her taste and my taste are just vastly different.

Big Hugs! deb

Denise, you could always adopt me and give me your brown transfer ware, haha! I love it. I use mine at Thanksgiving, too. There's something so cozy and homey about it.
What a cute granddaughter you have.

What beautiful dishes. I've been passing things to my kids that were passed down from their fathers side. I also sent a few things from my side and their fathers to the antique shop. Some things none of the kiddos cared to have. I understand about things holding sentimental value though....there are a few things I won't let go because of that reason. I'm sorry I haven't gotten Patty and Pearl's little book mailed to you yet.....soon.....I promise ;) Blessings friend, enjoy November. It won't be long till December, and Christmas. I absolutely love Christmas.

Hi Denise,

Your brown transferware is gorgeous! I can understand your concerns with giving it away. Maybe some day in the future. I've been collecting teacups and don't have any children so who knows where it will end up. I really want someone to appreciate it the way I do. Blessings - Donna

You china is just lovely. It's hard to know when to give our kids the things we cherish unless they let us know it's something they would love to have. Enjoy your day my friend! Hugs!

I love your transferware, ever so much more than the red or blue. Gorgeous! I hope your daughters will love it as much as you do. Sometimes it just takes them awhile. :)

What a cutie, Denise!

I love your transferware. I have a few pieces of the Friendly Village that I picked up at different antique malls so I don't have a full set. You are right, though, it is about this time of year that I love to bring it out (through Christmas). Do all of your daughters have an interest in the transferware?

OH! Look at the little honey bee! teeeheheheheee...she is so cute....

And this is the perfect table ware for a cottage style Thanksgiving dearest Denise! Precious sister, thank you for coming to visit. I am only able these days to post every 2-3 weeks these days. School is so busy, and my poetry group participation calls me to write on the weekends, leaving me very little time to come up with new posts! But I am so flattered that you are wondering if I'm posting. Thank you. And three more to go before reaching a number I never imagined I'd reach...

BIG HUGS to you and have a marvelous planning time for family time at Thanksgiving! Anita

Denise, these pictures are so cute; that bumble bee outfit is precious. The transferware is perfect for Thanksgiving. You know, one of my blog friends has the red transferware and it is lovely. I have four blue glasses, so I think I'm going to go with blue for Thanksgiving. It will be very simple this year.

love,

One of my favourite songs that makes me realise God’s always around. — Dancing with God, Verse 1: You dance over me While I am unaware, You sing all around But I never hear the sound, Chorus: Lord, I’m amazed by You Lord, I’m amazed by You Lord, I’m amazed by You How You love me Verse 2: You paint the moring sky With miracles in mind, My hope will always stand, For You hold me in Your hand.
